We are about to go pretty basic today folks! A key to serving healthy meals for yourself and your family is keeping some recipes on hand for kitchen staples like tomato sauce. Knowing how simple this is to make from scratch, using only REAL food ingredients makes all the difference in the world!

Go through the isle in your local grocery store and read the labels on the pasta sauces and tomato sauces and see what you find! You will be amazed at how many unhealthy ingredients are listed in your favorite tomato sauce. Even some of the organic ones still have loads of sugar added. It gets kinda depressing.
The tables are gonna turn today!
Making your own tomato sauce that you can use for many different meals is really, really simple! In no time at all, your tomato sauce will be healthy, wholesome and made by you!
For this recipe, I start with a can of tomato puree. I don’t use many canned food products but it is convenient to have a couple cans of tomato puree in the cupboard. Look for an organic one made with only tomatoes. I have also just taken several tomatoes and tossed them in my VitaMix for a bit when I didn’t have the tomato puree on hand. Either way works just fine!
Pour the can of tomato puree into a Vitamix (or whichever blender you have) and add in some garlic, basil, oregano, salt and palm sugar and give it a whirl!
Using palm sugar in this sauce adds a little bit of sweetness without giving the sauce an altered flavor adding honey or maple syrup would give. I love honey and maple syrup, but they just don’t belong with certain flavor combinations! The palm sugar gives this a more authentic tomato sauce flavor! We are all about authenticity!
Wasn’t that easy! You barely even have to wash any dishes!!!!
Think of all the yummy meals you can use this sauce for! Tomato sauce tastes great on zucchini noodles, pizza, sauteed summer squash and so much more!
- 29oz can of tomato puree
- 2t galric powder
- 1t basil
- 1t oregano
- 1t sea salt
- 2T palm sugar
- Place all of the ingredients in a Vitamix or blender and blend until well incorporated.
- Use in all of your favorite recipes that call for pasta sauce or any type of tomato sauce!
