I admit it, I used to just grab an envelope (or three) of taco seasoning from the grocery store. I then graduated to the large container of taco seasoning at Costco….until I read the ingredients on the labels…oh my! Whenever I see a label with words I cannot pronounce that are longer than my grocery list I get suspicious! I became determined to create my own taco seasoning without additives, preservatives and words I couldn’t read! This taco seasoning is a simple recipe for you to toss together made with herbs and spices you likely have in your kitchen already!
I keep a batch of this in my cupboard to add to ground beef or shredded chicken for an easy taco meal on a busy weeknight!
- 4T chili powder
- 1T garlic powder
- 1T red pepper flakes
- 2t oregano
- 2t paprika
- 1T cumin
- 1T sea salt
- 1T black pepper
- Mix all ingredients in a bowl until well blended. Store in a mason jar or other container.
- To make taco meat simply mix ¼ cup of taco seasoning with 1 cup of water and stir to dissolve. Add to 1lb of ground beef or shredded chicken and simmer for about 15 minutes! Enjoy!
